115-Member Interstate Cyber Fraudster Gang Arrested

Hyderabad: In a significant operation, Cyberabad Police cracked down on a bogus international VOIP call center and arrested a 115-member interstate cyber fraudster gang. These fraudsters, impersonating Amazon executives, used VOIP calls to deceive foreign customers. The gang sourced victim data from a Leads Generation portal.

They coerced individuals to reveal personal info by posing as US Customs and Border Protection agents. Victims were then pressured to buy gift cards to “cancel” suspicious parcels.

The gang profited by selling gift card codes on PAXFUL after victims redeemed them. They converted cryptocurrency into INR by involving local vendors.

The scheme included randomly calling international citizens and connecting them to fraudsters through IVR prompts. The police seized laptops, CPUs, mobiles, and more as evidence.
