The police recovered 10 bikes together worth Rs 10 lakh from the duo, who were finally tracked down with the help of CCTV cameras

Hyderabad: Footage from about 200 surveillance cameras helped the Falaknuma police arrest two automobile thieves who had pulled off 10 motorbike thefts in four months across the Old City.

The police recovered 10 bikes together worth Rs 10 lakh from the duo, who were finally tracked down on Friday. The arrested persons were Mohd Sirajuddin from Farooq Nagar in Vattepally and Mohd Hameed alias Aslam from Shivrampally in Rajendranagar. Police said Hameed would drop Sirajuddin at the targeted residential colony to steal parked motorcycles using duplicate keys.

“They hid the stolen vehicles at Hameed’s house, where the number plates were changed with new number stickers. They were involved in 10 offences in the last four months at Falaknuma, Chandrayangutta, Kalapathar, Balapur and Shahalibanda,” police said.

Based on a recent complaint, the Falaknuma police booked a case and verified footage from about 200 surveillance cameras and identified the two and nabbed them.
