TGCSB Interstate Operation: 20 People Arrested

Hyderfabad, May 13 (Maxim News): As part of its efforts to crack down on cyber criminals, the Telangana Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) has made a key breakthrough in an inter-state operation conducted in Gujrat. It has busted a gang of agents who were supplying mule bank accounts (a bank account in one’s name for use by others) to cyber criminals and facilitating cash transactions through mule bank accounts.

The Telangana Cyber Security Bureau has arrested 20 people in a special operation in Surat, Gujarat from May 1 to May 10. Among them, 14 are mule accounts and six are agents. The arrested accused are involved in more than 60 cyber crimes in Telangana and 515 across the country. TGCSB Director Shikha Goyal said in a statement on Monday. According to it, as part of the investigation of cases registered under the jurisdiction of seven cyber crime police stations in Telangana, TGCSB officials focused on several suspicious cash withdrawals and transactions made through cheques. Preliminary investigation revealed that suspicious transactions worth Rs. 44.37 crore were made across the country through 27 mule accounts, five accused in Telangana alone were found to have withdrawn Rs. 22,64,500 through cheques.

The arrested accused include private sector employees, businessmen and a bank employee (DCB Bank Relationship Manager, Vapi branch). They were involved in various cyber frauds including business, investment fraud, trading and part-time employment, Shikha Goyal said, 20 mobile phones, 28 SIM cards, four ATM cards, five cheque books, two PAN cards, two rubber stamps and other criminal documents were seized from the arrested accused.

Shikha Goyal congratulated DSPs, Phanindar and Rangareddy, Inspectors Mahender and Ravikumar, SP Devender Singh, DSPs KV Suryaprakash and harikishan who played a key role in the Surat operation. He advised people to be careful not to fall prey to cyber frauds and to immediately file a complaint. (Maxim News)
