Hyderabad, July 30 (Maxim News): In a determined move to keep Hyderabad safe and disease-free during the rainy season, GHMC Commissioner R.V. Karnan conducted surprise inspections in Kukatpally and Khairatabad zones on Wednesday morning. He emphasized the strict implementation of the special monsoon sanitation programme, calling on officials and citizens alike to play an active role in making Greater Hyderabad a healthy and clean city.
Inspections Target Waste Removal, Fogging, and Public Awareness
Accompanied by Zonal Commissioners Apurv Chauhan and Anurag Jayanthi, the GHMC Chief visited multiple locations across Kukatpally and Khairatabad to review ongoing field-level sanitation activities.
The inspections focused on:
- Timely removal of municipal waste
- Anti-larval and mosquito fogging operations
- Cleanliness in parks, residential colonies, and waterlogged areas
- Public health awareness drives
In the Khairatabad circle, the Commissioner reviewed progress in Ameerpet, Panjagutta, and Begumpet, urging officials to remain vigilant in curbing seasonal disease outbreaks caused by stagnant water and poor sanitation.
Monsoon Sanitation Drive Active in All 150 Wards
Commissioner Karnan informed that the special sanitation programme, launched on July 29, will continue until August 8 across all 150 wards under GHMC jurisdiction. The initiative aims to curb the spread of seasonal diseases such as dengue, malaria, and viral fevers that typically spike during the monsoon.
“Public health is our top priority during the rainy season. Every citizen’s cooperation is essential in ensuring the success of this campaign,” said Commissioner Karnan.
He further appealed to Hyderabad residents to:
- Avoid dumping garbage in public areas
- Prevent water stagnation in and around their homes
- Support sanitation workers and follow hygiene practices
Community Involvement Is Key to Success
GHMC’s strategy involves integrated efforts from field-level staff, sanitation teams, and local residents. The civic body is deploying fogging machines, anti-larval chemicals, and special awareness campaigns to prevent the spread of infections.
As monsoon showers continue, GHMC urges all Hyderabadis to stay informed, vigilant, and proactive in maintaining hygiene in their surroundings.
