Hyderabad Mayor | Hyderabad, Sept. 3: With just three days left for the main Ganesh idol immersion procession scheduled on September 6, the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is working on a war footing to ensure smooth arrangements across the city.

On Wednesday, Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi personally monitored the situation by calling corporators over the phone and asking, “How are the Ganesh immersion arrangements in your wards?” She sought details about sanitation, street lighting, road repairs on immersion procession routes, and facilities at immersion points.

Corporators Express Satisfaction; Minor Issues Reported

Most corporators expressed satisfaction with the arrangements in their wards. However, a few highlighted issues such as potholes, pending patch works, cleaning problems, and requested pruning of tree branches along immersion routes.

The Mayor urged corporators to coordinate with local officials to ensure the immersion process goes smoothly.

She assured that all pending works will be addressed immediately. Later, the Mayor held a teleconference with all Zonal Commissioners, instructing them to speed up pending works and deploy field staff to complete them on priority.

GHMC officials said barricading and street lighting works are being completed on major roads for the centralized Ganesh immersion procession.

The main procession will begin after the Balapur Ganesh Laddu auction, following which other idols will start from their respective pandals and merge into the main route passing through Charminar and MJ Market, before proceeding towards Hussain Sagar for immersion.

GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan inspected arrangements from Balapur to the Tank Bund GHMC office on Wednesday. The corporation has also intensified its road safety campaign to repair potholes and damaged roads.

Meanwhile, a joint review meeting was held by the hyderabad city police and Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi to discuss security and traffic management during immersion

Pothole filling works, catch pit repairs, cover replacements, and central median repairs are continuing continuously as part of road safety measures within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation.

As of September 3, a total of 13,927 potholes have been identified in the city. Of these, 11,313 have been repaired. While 11,159 potholes were filled up till yesterday, 154 potholes were repaired today alone. So far, 562 catch pit repairs, 323 cover replacements, and 12 central median repairs have been completed.

GHMC Commissioner R. V. Karnan has ordered GHMC officials to complete the road repair work quickly without causing any inconvenience to the public.
