Delhi/Internet/Hyderabad, Sept 16 (Maxim News): The centre is taking steps to deport 16,000 foreigners from the country. The decision has been taken under the new immigration laws that have come into force in India recently.
According to the sources the nrcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detained around 16,000 foreigners in various parts of the country for their alleged involvement in narcotics trafficking and other crimes. There are reports in several national media outlets that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is preparing plans to deport all those currently in detention centers.
A new law imposing strict punishments on foreigners residing in the country illegally with forced documents came into force on September 2. It is known as the Immigration and Foreigners Act -2025 and was passed by Parliament in the budget session. It was given the assent of the President on April 4. It replaced four old laws. Under this, foreigners who enter the country with false documents will be punished with a minimum of two years and a maximum of seven years in prison. a fine ranging from Rs. 1 lakh to Rs. 10 lakh can be imposed.
Despite becoming the fourth largest economy, there are crores of people living in poverty in India. Although governments are implementing welfare schemes with crores of rupees to end poverty, the situation seems to be stagnant. However, illegal immigration is the main obstacle in solving this problem. Foreigners who have entered illegally from border countries are not only illegal, but they are also receiving the welfare benefits that should be given to the original beneficiaries. In this context, the Center is taking steps to deport them from the country through the Immigration and Foreigners Act that has been implemented. (Maxim News)
