Telangana to Unveil Education Policy 2047, CM Revanth Reddy Calls It a Guiding Light

Hyderabad, Sept. 17: Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Wednesday said the proposed Telangana Education Policy (TEP) will serve as a guiding light for the nation’s education framework, blending language, knowledge, skills, and sports to meet future challenges.

“Education Is the Only True Weapon to Eradicate Poverty”

Speaking at a review meeting on the preparation of the Education Policy at the Telangana Secretariat, the Chief Minister stressed the need for a complete revamp of the sector. “Education is the only true weapon to eradicate poverty,” he said, noting that earlier governments relied on land distribution or financial aid, but today education remains the most powerful tool for empowerment.

Reddy recalled that India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, prioritized higher education by setting up universities and IITs. However, he observed that while globalization has created opportunities, India has lagged due to weak educational standards. “We are producing lakhs of engineers, but less than ten percent secure jobs because of inadequate skills,” he remarked.

The Chief Minister emphasized aligning education with global opportunities. He underlined the importance of modernizing ITI courses, setting up the Young India Skill University, and ensuring government schools regain the confidence of parents. He warned that falling standards in schools and universities are pushing youth towards drugs and despair.

Vision 2047 and Inclusive Education

The Telangana Education Policy will be integrated into the Telangana Vision Document–2047, to be unveiled on December 9. Reddy said the new framework must promote inclusivity, removing segregations among BC, SC, ST, and minority students from childhood. “The system must primarily benefit the poor, not just government employees,” he said.
