Hyderabad Cyber Crime Arrested 59 People Across 8 States
Hyderabad, Oct 12 (Maxim News) Hyderabad Cyber Crime Police conducted out-of-state operations in September 2025 and arrested 59 persons across India.
The police registered 222 FIRs at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Hyderabad City, and 106 FIRs at Zonal Cyber Cells, based on 320 NCRP complaints.
The operations also led to refunds totaling Rs. 86,64,827 to victims. The teams seized mobile phones, laptops, bank instruments, and SIM cards from the accused.
The arrests covered multiple fraud types. These included Investment Frauds–28, Digital Arrest–6, Part-time Investment–4, Matrimonial Fraud–2, Credit Card fraud–4, Movie Piracy–3, Job Fraud–1, Trading Fraud–1, Social media Related–4, Social Media Tip Line–1, Unauthorized Transactions–3, and others–2.
Therefore, the spread showed diverse methods. Meanwhile, the accused was linked to 257 cases nationwide, with 74 cases in Telangana.
State-wise links spanned Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Meghalaya, Odisha, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, West Bengal, and Telangana.
Telangana accounted for 74 cases. Maharashtra had 53, and Karnataka had 38. Also, seizures included 43 mobile phones, 9 cheque books, 8 passbooks, 23 ATM/Debit cards, 4 laptops, 1 shell company stamp, and 21 SIM cards.
Refunds by modus were itemized: Investment fraud refunds were Rs. 58,47,595. OTP fraud refunds were Rs. 5,21,150. Impersonation refunds were Rs. 1,13,000. APK fraud refunds were Rs. 50,000. Trading fraud refunds were Rs. 12,43,111. Credit card fraud refunds were Rs. 2,58,635. Digital arrest refunds were Rs. 3,34,065. Job fraud refunds were Rs. 1,78,500. NCRP refunds were Rs. 1,18,771. The total refunds matched Rs. 86,64,827.
Police detailed three detected cases: First, the Cyber Crime Police busted a movie piracy ring after the films “#Single,” “Hit the third case,” and “Kubera” were uploaded to piracy sites on release day. Two cases, Cr.No. 1042/2025 and Cr.No. 1292/2025, were registered under sections of the IT Act, BNS, Copyright Act, and Cinematograph Act. The prime accused were Ashwani Kumar, Cyril Infant Raj Amaladoss, Jana Kiran Kumar, Sudhakaran, and Arsalan Ahmed. Investigators seized CPUs, tablets, hard disks, mobile phones, laptops, dongles, pen drives, web cams, memory cards, and processors.
Second, a “digital arrest” fraud allegedly led to a victim’s death by cardiac arrest on 08.09.2025 after intimidation by impostors. The fraudsters posed as police and agencies over WhatsApp and extorted ₹6,60,543 from a Union Bank pension account. A case, Cr. No. 1669/2025, was registered under IT Act and BNS sections. The arrested were A1: Shankar Supur and A2: Vishwas Dattatraya Miraje. The police seized two mobile phones.
Third, police detected a matrimonial fraud on Instagram that cost a victim Rs. 25,00,000. The account “khoobsurat.rishte” used edited photos, including of a Pakistani influencer, to lure the victim. A case, Crime No. 1176/2025, was registered. The arrested included A1: Smt Aneesa Mohmadyaseen Hundekar, A3: Mohammed Abdul Aamer, while A2: Zohar Fathima was absconding. Seized items were two phones, one tab, one laptop, five passbooks, three cheque books, and three debit cards.
Police issued public advisories. They warned against social media friend requests or messages seeking money in the name of senior officials. They urged investors to avoid fake groups on Telegram, WhatsApp, X, Instagram, and Facebook, and to use SEBI-approved apps and registered advisors. They cautioned against malicious APK files sent via SMS or WhatsApp.
They said no government agency conducts “digital arrest” or demands money over Skype or phone. They added there is a chance to get part refunds if reported fast, and directed victims to call 1930 or visit cybercrime.gov.in.
