Sajjanar stated that the criminals used his name to create a fake account and sent messages claiming he was in danger. One of his friends, believing the message to be genuine, transferred Rs 20,000 and later realized it was a scam. The Commissioner appealed to citizens not to believe or respond to such messages asking for money. He also advised that suspicious links, messages, and video calls should be blocked immediately to prevent further fraud.

He urged people not to react blindly if they receive requests for money through Facebook or other social media, even if it appears to be from an official or prominent person. Instead, people should first contact the actual person directly by phone to confirm. He emphasized that fake accounts are being used to deceive unsuspecting users into transferring money. Sajjanar stressed that awareness and caution remain the best protection against cyber crimes.
