Retired Employees Siege Assembly Over Pending Dues
Hyderabad, Jan 5 (Maxim News): Tension prevailed near the Telangana Assembly on Monday as retired employees attempted an Assembly siege to press for the immediate release of their pending dues during the ongoing Assembly sessions.
The protesters said the government had failed to clear long pending arrears, including dearness allowance and other dues payable to pensioners since 2024. They alleged continued neglect of retired employees’ issues and demanded swift action from the government.
According to the protesters, the pending DAs and arrears had caused serious financial stress to pensioners.
They demanded that the government immediately approve and release the dues without further delay. The retired employees raised slogans accusing the authorities of ignoring their rightful payments.
Meanwhile, as the protesters tried to move towards the Assembly, police intervened and stopped them near the premises.
The situation quickly turned tense as the demonstrators insisted on marching forward. Police later detained several retired employees, including Buck Judson, and shifted them to a nearby police station.
The protesters alleged that despite repeated representations, their demands had not been addressed.
They warned that protests would continue if the government failed to respond. Due to the police action and sloganeering, the area around the Assembly witnessed brief unrest.
The incident comes at a time when several organisations are attempting to highlight their demands during the Assembly sessions, leading to heightened security and frequent protests around the Assembly complex. (Maxim News)
