Hyderabad: Delhi Police arrested five individuals after violence broke out during a court-mandated anti-encroachment drive near the Syed Faiz Elahi mosque in Old Delhi’s Turkman Gate area. The clashes happened while the Municipal Corporation of Delhi cleared encroachments on land next to the mosque and a nearby graveyard. Authorities now focus the investigation on whether the violence stemmed from a larger, organised conspiracy.

Several people attacked security personnel with stones and glass bottles. At least five police personnel suffered injuries. Additional Commissioner of Police Madhur Verma said action would be taken against all those who instigated the violence, adding that more arrests could follow as the probe continues.

Investigation Targets Provocative Social Media Content

Police identified multiple suspects for stone pelting. Others allegedly created and spread provocative videos and audio messages on social media. These messages spread rumours that the mosque itself faced demolition. This prompted crowds to gather and heightened tensions. Therefore, investigators closely monitor social media platforms.
