Maoists Surrender Before Ramagundam Police In Telangana

Eight Maoists, including a woman, surrendered before the Ramagundam Commissionerate police, marking a significant development in the region’s security situation. The Maoists were linked to different frontal wings, such as militia units, courier networks, cultural teams, and local committees. The surrender took place on Saturday and was formally presented before the media by the police.
Commissioner of Police Amber Kishare Jha produced the surrendered Maoists at the commissionerate office in Godavarikhani. Police officials identified the individuals as Darmaji Srikanth, Podium Kamulu, Mudiam Joga, Kunjam Lakke, Modam Bheema, Kunjam Unga, Mudikam Sukram, and Mudiam Mangu. Except for Srikanth, all belonged to Gampur village under the limits of Gangeluru police station in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh. They had worked in Bijapur district and in bordering areas of Telangana.
Srikanth is a native of Chegyam in Velgatur mandal of Jagtial district. He worked as a Maoist party courier in 2019. Vajedu police arrested him in 2024. However, after his release from jail, he again joined the Maoist party in Chhattisgarh. He was later promoted as a party member and worked as a courier to senior Maoist leaders Kankanala Raji Reddy, Azad, and Damodar.
Militia commander Kamulu played a key role in local militia activities and leadership. Dummugudam police arrested him in 2024. Later, he rejoined the party in 2025. Woman Maoist Lakke worked under the leadership of Badru. She had escaped from the Andri encounter in which RCM Macherla Yesobu alias Jagan from Warangal was killed.
GAD commander Unga handled logistics and was also involved in spying activities. Joga had links with Chaitanya Natya Manda and worked in the cultural wing. Meanwhile, militia members Bheema, Sukram, and Mangu extended local support to the Maoist party.
Speaking on the occasion, the Commissioner of Police said the Maoists were impressed by the public welfare initiatives of the State government and the support extended by the police to surrendered Maoists. Therefore, they decided to give up arms and lead a normal life with their family members.
