- Harish Rao targets Naini tender cancellation and coal scam
- BRS questions Bhatti silence, Revanth Reddy role in Naini case
Senior BRS leader and former minister Harish Rao on Saturday alleged that the Naini tender cancellation itself points to a scam. He raised sharp questions after the tender was cancelled following allegations of corruption linked to the coal scam case. He said the decision raised serious doubts and demanded clear answers from the government.
Responding to the issue, Harish Rao accused Minister Bhatti of using what he described as dirty tricks in the Naini case. He also alleged that Bhatti remained silent on allegations related to a solar power scam in Singareni. Meanwhile, he criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, claiming the controversy was linked to protecting his brother in law. He said the government avoided giving a direct reply on whether corruption took place in the coal scam.
Harish Rao said the Naini tender cancellation itself proved corruption. Therefore, he questioned why the government did not cancel other tenders floated in the same manner. He accused the government of diverting attention instead of giving straight answers. “Instead of saying that there was no corruption in the coal scam, you said something like beating around the bush and made a mess of it. No matter what excuses you make, it is true that the coal scam happened during your Congress rule. It is true that Revanth Reddy played a role as a ring man in it. I am asking you frankly. If there was no scam, why did you announce that the tenders are being cancelled?”
Later, he referred to what he called another scam exposed a day earlier. He questioned why not a single word was spoken about the solar power scam during the press meet. He again asked why only the Naini tender was cancelled while others were allowed to continue. He said forcing the site visit certificate clause on BRS could not change facts. He added that the scams that happened did not turn into schemes.
Harish Rao also reacted to claims that the site visit rule started in 2018 and that central government institutions followed it. He asked why the Naini tender was cancelled if the rule was valid. He said the same site visit policy was followed in Singareni as well.
Addressing Bhatti directly, he said, “Bhatti garu. I have great respect for you.” He added that he was ready to write a letter if there was a genuine promise of an impartial investigation. He said only a sitting judge or a central agency like the CBI could probe allegations involving a Chief Minister. He said he would write the letter if Revanth Reddy agreed to an inquiry into the alleged scam involving his brother in law.
