Bandi Sanjay Seeks Action Against Congress MLA

Hyderabad: Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar sought action against Mandula Samuel, MLA from Thungathurthy, over alleged remarks about Hindu gods. He demanded that police register a criminal case against the legislator for attempting to disturb communal harmony through provocative comments.

Sanjay Kumar made the statement while launching his yatra to the Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy Temple on Saturday. The yatra started from Karimnagar and is heading towards the temple along with newly elected local representatives.

According to Sanjay Kumar, the remarks were made during the swearing in ceremony of Dr Kavvampally Satyanarayana as the TPCC SC Cell chairman. The programme took place at Gandhi Bhavan in Hyderabad. He alleged that Mandula Samuel made objectionable remarks against Hindu gods during the event.

Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar also referred to the presence of other Congress leaders at the programme. He claimed that Mahesh Kumar Goud, the TPCC president, and others present on the dais supported the comments by applauding.

“First, the Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy should apologise to the Hindu society and suspend the MLA from the party,” he said.

The Union Minister further demanded strict action against the MLA. He also said that Samuel should be barred from contesting elections. Meanwhile, Sanjay Kumar warned the legislator about his prospects in the next election.

Later, Sanjay Kumar continued his yatra from Karimnagar to the Kondagattu temple. Several newly elected sarpanches, ward members, councillors and corporators joined him during the yatra.

The remarks have brought political attention to the event held at Gandhi Bhavan. Meanwhile, the issue is likely to draw further reaction from political leaders as the matter develops.
