Jawaharnagar Police Solve Maid Murder Case, Man And Minor Girl Arrested
Hyderabad, March 26: Jawaharnagar Police have solved the murder case of a 40-year-old woman who was reported missing in 2025.
Police arrested a 22-year-old man along with a minor girl for allegedly murdering the woman and hiding the body inside the house.
The victim, Anju D.R., a domestic worker from Kowkoor in Alwal, went missing on May 12, 2025. Her daughter filed a missing complaint on October 17, 2025, after her mother failed to return home and her phone remained switched off.
During the investigation, police detained the main suspect Monti Kumar Singh alias Monti Raj, a driver from Jeedimetla. During questioning, he reportedly confessed to the crime.
Police said he became acquainted with the victim’s younger daughter, a minor, in December 2023. The two developed a relationship. However, the victim opposed it because her daughter was a minor.
Police said earlier cases had also been registered against the accused under the POCSO Act. Despite this, the two allegedly continued their relationship.
According to investigators, the accused and the minor girl planned the murder because the victim continued to oppose their relationship.
Police said the accused hid inside the victim’s house on May 12, 2025. When the woman returned home, he allegedly stabbed her while the minor restrained her, as per their plan.
Investigators said the victim died on the spot. The accused then wrapped the body and hid it under a bed. Later, they buried the body inside the house using cement and sand.
Police also said the accused cleaned the crime scene and destroyed the victim’s mobile phone to remove evidence.
After the confession, police exhumed the body from the house in the presence of officials. The Deputy Tahsildar conducted the inquest. Doctors from Osmania General Hospital conducted the post-mortem examination.
Initially, police registered a missing person case. However, based on evidence, they later altered the charges to murder and destruction of evidence under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police said the accused later married the minor girl at Yadagirigutta temple in January 2026. The girl reportedly gave birth to a child recently.
Both accused have now been taken into custody and produced before the court for judicial remand.
Police also seized a knife believed to have been used in the crime.
Senior officers supervised the investigation. The case was solved under the supervision of Malkajgiri Zone DCP Ch. Sridhar and ACP Chakrapani of Jawaharnagar Division, along with the Jawaharnagar Police Station team.
Police said they will recommend rewards for the officers involved in solving the case.
