Hyderabad, March 30: Hyderabad Police Commissioner C. V. Anand said food adulteration is not just a crime but a serious attack on society. He shared his concerns on Monday through a social media post.
He said adulteration affects essential food items. These include biscuits and ice cream consumed by children. He also mentioned ginger garlic paste, tea powder, milk, and curd. Therefore, he warned that such practices endanger public health.
The Commissioner expressed concern over traders who mix harmful substances for profit. He said such acts risk the lives of ordinary citizens. Moreover, he stressed the need for strict enforcement to protect consumers.
H FAST team registers 61 cases in one month
He welcomed the decision of Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to strengthen food safety systems. He said the government aims to protect public health through stronger monitoring.
The Commissioner said the Hyderabad Police formed a special H FAST team. The team focuses on identifying food adulteration networks. He said the team has already intensified enforcement action.
According to police data, the team registered 61 cases in the past month. Officers also seized about 15 tonnes of adulterated food materials. In addition, police arrested 64 accused persons during enforcement drives.
The Commissioner warned that police will not spare anyone who risks public health. He said strict legal action will continue against offenders.
Furthermore, he said the department will expand inspections.
He added that police remain committed to ensuring safe food. He said the fight against adulteration will continue with greater intensity. He also called for public cooperation in reporting violations.
Police officials said awareness and enforcement must go together. They said consumer vigilance plays a key role. Authorities urged citizens to report suspicious food products to officials.
The Hyderabad Police said their goal remains a food adulteration free city. Officials added that coordinated action will continue in the coming months.
