Hyderabad Police Probe Social Media Campaign Against Judge Madhavi Devi

Hyderabad, May 16: Hyderabad Police probe social media campaign against judge after alleged smear posts targeted High Court Justice Madhavi Devi online.

Madhavi Devi expressed concern over the social media campaign during the hearing of the Sai Bhageerath case on Thursday.

The judge said she was deeply disturbed by the online attacks. The remarks came while hearing an interim bail petition linked to a POCSO case.

Senior police officials said the Cyber Crime unit and Task Force have started a detailed enquiry. Teams are coordinating efforts to identify those responsible for the posts.

Officials said the investigation is focused on tracing individuals involved in spreading content targeting the judge on social media platforms.

The case relates to Sai Bhageerath, who approached the court seeking interim bail in a POCSO case.

A complaint against Bhageerath was filed on May 8 at Petbasheerabad Police Station. The complaint was lodged by the victim’s mother.

Police registered a case following the allegations. The investigation into the POCSO case is continuing separately.
