Karimnagar, May 20: Karimnagar Police Commissioner Gaush Alam conducted surprise inspections at jewellery shops, lodges and hotels in Karimnagar town following the recent robbery at a PMJ jewellery showroom.
During the inspections on Wednesday, the Commissioner interacted with jewellery shop owners and stressed the need for stronger security measures to prevent thefts and criminal activities.
He instructed shop managements to deploy trained security personnel and install door frame metal detectors along with hand held metal detectors for screening visitors entering the premises.
Security Measures Strengthened in Karimnagar
The Commissioner also directed jewellery establishments to install modern emergency alarm systems capable of alerting the police instantly during emergencies.
According to officials, the alarm system should be connected in a way that police receive a siren alert immediately if the emergency button is pressed inside the shop.
Lodge and hotel operators were instructed to collect Aadhaar cards or other valid government identification documents from customers before allotting rooms.
Police advised managers to verify phone numbers provided by guests to ensure authenticity and report suspicious persons immediately.
The Commissioner further stressed the importance of regularly checking CCTV cameras installed in business establishments and hotels. He said cameras should function properly and maintain sufficient backup storage for clear footage retrieval during investigations.
The police assured traders and business owners that adequate protection would be provided for public safety and security.
Additional DCP Venkataramana, ACPs Venkataswamy, Venugopal, Nasala Sathish and Inspector Ramchander Rao also participated in the inspections.
