Hyderabad, May 20: The Telangana Anti Corruption Bureau on Wednesday arrested two policemen attached to Bowenpally Police Station for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe to relax bail conditions in a criminal case.
The accused were identified as Sub Inspector M. Kiran Nandita and police constable B. Vijay Kumar.
According to ACB officials, the officers allegedly demanded money from a complainant in exchange for easing bail conditions and extending police cooperation until the case was finalised.
The case was reportedly related to an offence registered under Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
ACB officials said the constable had earlier accepted Rs 10,000 from the complainant and later demanded an additional amount.
ACB Traps Officials Red Handed
Acting on a complaint, ACB officials laid a trap and caught both the accused red-handed while allegedly accepting Rs 30,000 as bribe around 4 pm on Wednesday.
The anti-corruption officials seized the cash and conducted further investigation.
Both the accused policemen are being produced before the Principal and Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally for judicial remand.
The ACB stated that the identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.
