Adilabad, May 23: Severe heatwave conditions continue to claim lives in Telangana as three persons reportedly died of suspected sunstroke in separate incidents across the erstwhile Adilabad district on Saturday.
The deaths were reported from Neradigonda, Thamsi, and Jannaram areas amid soaring temperatures and intense heatwave conditions prevailing across northern Telangana.
Hostel worker dies while undergoing treatment
In the first incident, 54 year old Jadhav Lalitha Bai of Borigaon village in Neradigonda mandal reportedly fell seriously ill during the afternoon after suffering from suspected sunstroke.
Family members immediately shifted her to a hospital in Nirmal for treatment. However, she died while undergoing treatment.
Lalitha Bai was reportedly working at an ST hostel in Utnoor. Her family members appealed to the Integrated Tribal Development Agency to provide financial assistance to the bereaved family.
Farm labourer dies on way to hospital
In another incident, 44 year old Athram Ramu, a farm labourer from Kuchulapur village in Thamsi mandal, suffered severe nausea and vomiting while working under extreme heat conditions.
He was rushed to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment but died while being shifted to the hospital.
The deceased is survived by his wife and two children. Local residents said rising temperatures and continuous exposure to direct sunlight have severely affected outdoor workers and agricultural labourers.
Daily wage worker collapses at bus station
In the third incident, 27 year old Kova Kiran Kumar, a daily wage worker from Ghanpur village in Utnoor mandal, reportedly collapsed at a bus station in Jannaram mandal centre.
He was suspected to have died due to sunstroke.
According to family members, Kiran Kumar had left home earlier in the day stating that he was going to repair his mobile phone but failed to return by evening.
The deceased was also a beneficiary under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act employment scheme.
Heatwave conditions continue across Telangana
Telangana has been experiencing intense heatwave conditions over the past several days with temperatures crossing 45 degrees Celsius in many districts.
Health officials warned that prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, dehydration, and hot winds are significantly increasing the risk of heatstroke, especially among elderly people, labourers, farmers, and daily wage workers.
Authorities advised people to avoid outdoor activities during peak afternoon hours and consume sufficient water, ORS, and cooling fluids to prevent dehydration.
The state government and district administrations have been monitoring heatwave conditions closely as temperatures continue to remain above normal levels across several parts of Telangana.
