Nizamabad, May 26: A major road accident involving seven cars and two trucks took place on NH 44 near Chandrayanpally in Indalvai mandal of Nizamabad district on Monday evening.
Officials said six persons sustained injuries in the accident. However, no deaths were reported. The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.
According to preliminary reports, the accident occurred after a truck suffered a tyre burst and brake failure. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which rammed into two cars moving ahead on the highway.
NH 44 Accident Causes Massive Traffic Disruption
Following the collision, five cars travelling behind the truck crashed into the damaged vehicles, leading to a massive pile up on the busy national highway.
Meanwhile, another truck carrying coconuts attempted to avoid the collision but lost control. The vehicle skidded off the road and overturned in nearby agricultural fields.
The accident created panic among motorists and caused severe traffic congestion on NH 44 for several hours.
Police and rescue personnel reached the spot and launched clearing operations to remove the damaged vehicles and restore traffic movement on the highway.
Authorities are investigating the incident and examining the exact sequence of events that led to the multi vehicle collision.
