Wanaparthy, May 27: A farmer and four members of his family allegedly died by suicide in a tragic incident reported from Salkapur village in Wanaparthy district on Wednesday.
The deceased farmer was identified as Narasimlu (40), a native of Dokuru village in Mahabubnagar district. His wife Yellamma (36), teenage daughter and son also died in the incident.
According to reports, the family had been staying at a mango orchard in Salkapur village of Khilla Ghanpur mandal, where Narasimlu had reportedly taken nearly 150 acres of mango cultivation on lease.
Alleged Financial Losses And Loan Pressure
Police said the family was allegedly facing severe financial stress after suffering losses in mango cultivation.
Reports indicated that recovery agents from a finance company were pressuring the family over repayment of loans taken against their house.
It is alleged that notices were written on the walls of the family’s house and household items worth around Rs 2 lakh were seized by finance company representatives.
The family was also reportedly facing harassment related to debts, which investigators believe caused extreme mental distress.
According to preliminary information, Narasimlu allegedly pushed his wife and children into a water sump at the orchard before ending his own life by hanging.
Police sources said he may have recorded a video message on his mobile phone before the incident.
A case has been registered and investigation is underway.
