Hyderabad, June 1: Congress MLA and party whip Yennam Srinivas Reddy is scheduled to appear before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Monday in connection with the alleged phone tapping case in Telangana.
The questioning will take place at the Integrated Command and Control Centre in Banjara Hills as investigators continue to examine allegations of illegal phone surveillance during the previous government’s tenure.
Phone Tapping Case Enters Key Phase
Yennam Srinivas Reddy is among the first complainants who alleged that his phone was tapped while the Bharat Rashtra Samithi government was in power.
The SIT served a notice to the MLA on May 31, directing him to appear for questioning in connection with Crime No. 243. According to reports, a similar notice had earlier been issued to him on July 7, 2025. The latest communication has been treated as a second notice.
Investigators are expected to record his statement and gather details regarding the allegations made in his complaint.
Earlier, the Congress legislator had approached former Hyderabad Police Commissioner Kothakota Sreenivasa Reddy, alleging that his phone was unlawfully monitored by the Telangana State Level Agency during the previous administration.
The investigation has gained momentum in recent months following complaints from several legislators, Members of Parliament and other public representatives. Officials believe the statements of complainants could provide crucial evidence as the probe moves forward.
The SIT is continuing its investigation into the alleged surveillance activities and examining the role of individuals and agencies linked to the case.
