Hyderabad, June 7: Gachibowli police arrested a man in connection with the death of a 23 year old woman who allegedly died by suicide at a co living hostel in Hyderabad. The arrest followed a complaint filed by the victim’s family.
The deceased, identified as Molli Durga, was staying at a co living hostel in Gachibowli. Police registered a case after receiving a complaint from her uncle, Devarampally Ravi Kumar.
According to investigators, Durga was in a relationship with Sai Kumar Posti, a delivery executive. Police said the couple frequently argued over his alleged conduct and harassment.
On the night of June 5, an argument reportedly broke out between the two over Sai Kumar’s alcohol consumption. Soon after the dispute, Durga allegedly jumped from the hostel building at around 10 pm.
She sustained critical injuries and was rushed to a private hospital for treatment. However, doctors later declared her dead.
In the complaint, family members alleged that continuous harassment by the accused drove Durga to take the extreme step. They urged police to initiate legal action.
Following a preliminary inquiry, Gachibowli police registered a case and arrested Sai Kumar Posti. He has been booked on charges of abetment of suicide. Further investigation into the case is underway.
