DGP CV Anand | Hyderabad, July 7 (Maxim News) : Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) CV Anand on Tuesday warned smugglers of strict legal action and said the police department is strengthening surveillance along interstate borders to curb smuggling, cybercrime, and drug trafficking. He also stressed the need for integrity within the police force and urged personnel to resist corruption.
The DGP made the remarks during his visit to the Khammam Commissionerate, where he reviewed law and order, crime trends, and policing initiatives.
CV Anand said Khammam holds strategic importance as the gateway to Telangana. Therefore, the police department is focusing on maintaining law and order while improving public services.
He reviewed crime data from the past three years and interacted with police personnel to understand their operational challenges. In addition, he held discussions on improving service delivery and reducing staff workload.
The DGP said the department recently conducted a video conference with nearly 6,500 police officers across the state. During the meeting, officials discussed measures to improve policing and public accessibility.

He directed officers to remain available to the public every day from 3 pm to 5 pm to address grievances promptly. Furthermore, he said the department is providing specialised training on artificial intelligence (AI) to equip personnel with modern policing skills.
CV Anand said the Telangana Police are giving top priority to tackling the drug menace. He warned that smugglers operating from neighbouring states, including Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, and Odisha, are under constant surveillance. Consequently, police have intensified checks along interstate borders to prevent the movement of narcotics and other illegal goods.
The DGP also said cybercrime remains a major concern. Therefore, police have increased monitoring of cyber offences and are keeping a close watch on individuals using social media platforms to promote anti-social activities.
Moreover, he announced that the department plans to establish a Special Traffic Management Bureau to improve traffic regulation across the state. The initiative aims to enhance traffic flow and reduce road accidents.
He pointed out that vehicles from neighbouring states are frequently parked illegally on highways, contributing to a rise in accidents. Accordingly, police will strengthen enforcement measures to prevent such violations and improve road safety.
CV Anand reiterated that the Telangana Police remain committed to transparent policing, public service, and strict enforcement against organised crime, smuggling, and cyber offences.
