The arrested accused has been identified as Shams Bilal alias Bilal, 28, a car driver from Talab Katta in Hyderabad. Police said he has a long criminal history and was previously involved in 18 two wheeler theft cases. He had earlier been arrested by Chandrayangutta and Saidabad police in similar offences and was released after serving time in Chanchalguda Central Jail.

According to investigators, Bilal studied up to Class 10 before taking up driving jobs. However, he allegedly developed alcohol addiction and began stealing motorcycles to meet his financial and personal expenses. Even after returning to work as a car driver following his release from jail, police said he resumed vehicle thefts because of insufficient income.

Police said the accused primarily targeted motorcycles parked in public places and residential areas. He allegedly stole unattended vehicles and either used them personally or disposed of them for financial gain.
