Hyderabad, August 2: The Hyderabad Commissioner’s Task Force, Jubilee Hills Zone, along with the Moghalpura Police, arrested a 27-year-old cab driver for allegedly forging allotment orders under the State government’s 2BHK Dignity Housing Scheme and cheating more than 50 people.
Police seized 52 forged allotment order copies and a mobile phone from the accused during the operation.
The accused, identified as Syed Salman, a resident of Chandrayangutta, allegedly claimed he had contacts in the Collector’s Office who could secure 2BHK houses under the government housing scheme.
According to the police, Salman convinced Asma Sultana, a school in-charge, and her family to pay Rs. 1.5 lakh in instalments. He also collected photocopies of their Aadhaar cards and passport-size photographs, claiming they were required for processing the housing application.
After receiving the money, he allegedly handed over forged allotment orders, falsely claiming that the houses had been sanctioned.
Investigators said Salman used the same modus operandi to cheat more than 50 people, collecting several lakhs of rupees. Police alleged that he spent the money on personal expenses.
A criminal case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to identify additional victims and determine the total amount involved in the fraud.
