Hyderabad, August 26: Attapur Police arrested a 30 year old man in connection with a car theft case and recovered property worth Rs 8.90 lakh.
Police identified the accused as Syed Mazher, also known as Shooter, Takla and Mazher Khan. He was arrested on August 22 in connection with Crime No. 925/2026.
The case was registered under Section 305(b) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Attapur Police Station.
Attapur car theft accused held after valet parking theft
Police said the accused allegedly stole a Hyundai i20 Asta from a valet parking area near Pista House at Attapur on August 22.
According to police, the complainant had handed the car to valet staff before entering Pista House. The accused allegedly noticed that several vehicle keys were kept near the valet counter.
Police said he allegedly engaged the staff in conversation before taking two keys from the counter.
He then allegedly used one key to identify the Hyundai i20 parked near Bansali Marble. After finding nobody near the vehicle, he allegedly started the car and fled.
Police recovered the stolen Hyundai i20 and a laptop. The recovered property was valued at around Rs 8.90 lakh.
The total property reported stolen included the car, two gold rings weighing 11 grams and a laptop. Its total value was estimated at Rs 9 lakh.
Police also seized an Oppo mobile phone from the accused.
According to police, Mazher had no employment and was allegedly planning to travel to his native village in Karnataka. Police said he wanted to visit his father’s grave ahead of Milad un Nabi but lacked money for the journey.
Police described Mazher as a habitual offender and said he had been arrested in several previous cases.
His previous cases include robbery cases registered at Gudimalkapur and Langer House police stations in 2024. He was also booked in a murder case registered at Sanathnagar Police Station.
Police said he was arrested and remanded to jail in 2024 and was recently released on bail.
The latest arrest was carried out under the supervision of Rajendranagar Zone DCP S. Sreenivas, IPS, and other senior police officials. The Attapur police team involved in the investigation was also commended for the recovery.
