Hyderabad, Sept. 22: BRS leader P Sabitha Indra Reddy on Tuesday raised concerns over an alleged decline in enrollment in Telangana government schools.
Sabitha, a former minister and BRSLP deputy leader, said enrollment had fallen by more than 3.57 lakh students.
She claimed enrollment stood at 30,09,212 students during the previous BRS government.
According to her, the figure has declined to 26,52,162 this year under the Congress government.

In a statement, Sabitha attributed the alleged decline to the government’s failure to strengthen public education.
She alleged that parents from economically weaker sections were losing confidence in government schools.
Sabitha also accused the Congress government of weakening the public education system and reducing the number of government schools.
She said the decline in enrollment was a matter of concern for students and their families.
“This Congress government, which is playing with the lives of the poor, will suffer at the hands of the students and their parents,” she said.
However, the Telangana government has presented a different picture of government school enrollment.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy said earlier this month that more than 80,000 additional students had joined government schools over the past two years.
The competing claims indicate a difference between the figures cited by the BRS leader and the state government’s assessment of enrollment trends.
