Hyderabad, Sept 26 (Maxim News): A total of 15,749 in-service teachers have qualified in the special Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TG TET) 2026 conducted exclusively for government and local body school teachers.
As many as 22,477 teachers appeared for the examination held on September 8 and 9. The results were announced by School Education Director Dr E. Naveen Nicolas on Saturday.
Nearly 7,000 teachers who appeared for the special TET did not qualify.
Another Special TG TET Exam to Be Held in November
Of the candidates who appeared for Paper I, 3,398 out of 4,942 qualified. Paper I determines eligibility to teach Classes I to V.
In Paper II Mathematics and Science, 6,720 out of 9,131 candidates qualified. Another 5,631 candidates qualified from the 8,404 who appeared for Paper II.
Paper II determines teaching eligibility for Classes VI to VIII.
Dr Nicolas said the Education Department would issue another special TET notification for in-service teachers in October.
“Depending on the number of applications, the exam will be conducted in the month of November and results will be quickly released,” he said.
The Telangana government is conducting special TET examinations following a Supreme Court directive requiring in-service teachers, except those with less than five years of service, to clear the TET by August 2028 to retain their jobs.
Teachers with less than five years of service must clear the TET to become eligible for promotion.
Since the court judgment, the State government has conducted one special TET and two regular TETs.
Dr Nicolas also said a regular TET notification would be issued in November, with the examination planned for January 2027.
Both DEd and BEd graduates, as well as in-service teachers, will be eligible to apply for the regular TET.
