Delhi/Hyderabad, Sept 26 (Maxim News): Indian shooters Suruchi Inder Singh and Kamaljeet won the gold medal in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, setting a new Asian record in the process.
The Indian pair scored 484.6 points in the final to finish at the top of the standings. Their performance also prompted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to congratulate the shooters.
“An excellent performance with a new Asian Record! Congratulations to Kamaljeet and Suruchi Inder Singh on winning Gold in the 10m Air Pistol Mixed Team event at the Asian Games. Their determination has brought immense pride to the nation. Best wishes for the journey ahead,” Modi posted on X.
India Beats South Korea for Shooting Gold
Suruchi and Kamaljeet maintained their composure during a closely contested final. Their accurate shooting helped them retain the lead as the competition intensified.
The Republic of Korea’s Choo Gaeun and Hong Suhyeon finished second with 478.0 points to claim the silver medal.
Iran’s Rostamyan Haniyeh and Golkhandan Vahid secured the bronze medal with 415.8 points.
Indonesia’s Darmoyo A. and Prabowo M. finished fourth with 349.4 points.
The gold medal adds to India’s shooting campaign at the continental event. The new Asian record also gives Suruchi and Kamaljeet a second achievement alongside their gold medal.
Their performance was built on accuracy and consistency throughout the final. The score of 484.6 ultimately confirmed India’s victory and the record-breaking performance.
