Hyderabad, Sept. 27: Medak Collector Prathima Singh received the Paryataka Prathiba Award for promoting tourism and improving facilities at tourist destinations in the district. Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka and Tourism Minister Jupally Krishna Rao presented the award at Shilparamam in Hyderabad on Saturday.
Singh received the award for her efforts to improve tourist facilities and promote Medak as a tourism destination. She announced plans to develop 14 tourist spots into a tourism circuit to attract visitors from Hyderabad and other parts of the country.
Medak Plans Tourism Circuit Covering 14 Sites
Speaking at a World Tourism Day rally in Medak on Sunday, Singh said the district had identified 14 tourist destinations for development. These include Medak Church, Medak Fort, Narsapur Forest, Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary, Kulcharam Jain Mandir and Edupayala Sri Vana Durga Bhavani Temple.
She said tourism development would create direct and indirect employment for local residents. It would also generate revenue for the government.
Singh also announced a proposed allocation of Rs 10 crore for the restoration and conservation of Medak Fort. She inaugurated a ticket counter at the historic fort to facilitate entry for visitors before launching the rally.
Meanwhile, Medak MP M Raghunandan Rao, ASP Vikram Kumar Singh and other officials congratulated the Collector on receiving the state level award.
Singh has also held several meetings with officials from various departments to improve facilities at Medak Fort, Pocharam Wildlife Sanctuary and other tourist destinations.
