Kishan Demands CM To Prove How CAA Is Detrimental To Country
Hyderabad, Feb.9 (Maxim News): 621st birth anniversary celebrations of Sant Ravi Das held at State BJP office. Union Minister of State for Home Affairs G. Kishan Reddy and State BJP chief K. Laxman took part in the celebrations and paid floral tributes at the portrait of Sant Ravi Das.
Speaking on the occasion, Kishan Reddy alleged that some political parties were trying to gain votes by resorting to religious politics. Targeting Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, the Union minister asked the Chief Minister to reveal details of negative impact the Citizenship Amendment Act would have on the 130 crore population in the country, especially in the State. He made it clear that they would give citizenship only to refugees and not to infiltrators. He asked if the CM was opposing the Bill keeping in view of Pakistani citizens. He said the minorities of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh were not being provided with basic rights and added that they had brought the Act to reach out to all such minorities. He also claimed that their party was not working for individual families, but for the entire country.
“Half of Bangladesh will be empty if India grants citizenship to the Bangladeshis. Half of them will come over to India if citizenship was assured to them. The Centre was ready to review the CAA if it has one word against anyone of the 130 crore citizens, but not for Pakistani or Bangladeshi Muslims,” he clarified. Asserting that CAA was brought in on humanitarian grounds for certain persecuted communities in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afghanistan, Kishan Reddy said some political parties were demanding that citizenship be given to Muslims of those countries also. “I challenge Chief Minister KCR to prove if any one out of 130 crore citizens of this country was affected by the new CAA,” he said.
Stating that refugees and infiltrators should not be treated alike, he said some parties like Congress were seeking citizenship for infiltrators, who came from Bangladesh and Pakistan. He said some refugees were staying in the country for the past 40 years without any facilities and documents such as voter id, Aadhar or ration card and so on. State BJP president Laxman also spoke.
