Govt controlled child marriages with schemes: Gangula

Hyderabad, March 10 (Maxim News): State Civil Supplies & BC Welfare Minister Gangula Kamalakar today said the State government succeeded in preventing child marriages by implementing schemes like Kalyana Laxmi and Shadi Mubarak. He said it was confirmed in a survey conducted by the National Family Health survey.

The minister made the remarks while replying to questions raised by different MLAs during question hour in the Assembly. Gangula Kamalakar said a total of 10,26,396 people have benefited from the Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Laxmi schemes. He said a total of 4,87,346 people got the benefit from the BC Welfare department and a total of 1,21,639 people benefited from the ST Welfare department. He also said that a total of 2,10,639 people got the benefit of Shadi Mubarak scheme under the Minority Welfare department and a total of 2,06,735 people received the benefit from the SC Welfare department of the State. Kamalakar said the State government spent ₹8,673.67 crore so far for the implementation of the two schemes.

Giving away the break-up of the expenditure made by different welfare departments, Kamalakar said the BC Welfare department spent ₹4,355 crore, the SC Welfare department spent ₹1,660 crore, the ST Welfare department ₹975 crore and the Minority Welfare department spent ₹1,682 crore. He said the schemes would be applicable to all those who undergo inter -caste and love marriages. He also said they would give the monetary benefit under the scheme to the mother of the girl, who leaves the house after undergoing a love marriage. He also made it clear that the State government did not stop the implementation of the scheme even after serious impact of the deadly corona virus on the economy of the State. (Maxim News)
