Hyderabad, Dec 2 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad City Police Commissioner C V Anand stressed the need to combat drugs trafficking by ensuring better coordination among Central and State agencies. He said that there is an urgent need for a coalition since the drug consignments originating from various parts of the world on which the State government has adopted a zero tolerance policy against drugs.
The Hyderabad City Police hosted a multi agency stakeholder meeting at City Police Commissionerate comprising of ED, NCB, DRI, GST, Excise, FRRO, Drugs Control Administration, Counter Intelligence etc. today, the Commissioner said that the substances of drugs are entering the country in through sea ports, airports and land borders too and further reaching metropolitan cities which prompts them for unified operational responses and highlighted the need for exchange of information and enhanced coordination.
Rachakonda Commissioner of Police Mahesh Bhagwat sharing his insights on the recent modus operandis and the ingenious ways of transporting the contraband said that synergy of all the agencies will also help in combating other crimes.
“We are leveraging technology and updating our database to keep a strict tab on perpetrators who often disguise their actual identity using fake passports and blend in high density areas in metropolitan cities,” said Sai chaitany Kumar, SP Counter Intelligence.
The participants have discussed the policies, challenges in combating illicit drug trade, tracking on the stay of foreigners, developing integral framework, drug shipments, legal aspects etc. The meeting also discussed blocking financial flows linked to illicit traffic, preventing the diversion of chemicals used in illicit drugs manufacturing etc.
Being the guardians of all entry points into the country, DRI will extend all possible help with regard to sharing intelligence and patterns of transport, assured K.vinay Kumar, additional director, DRI. The FRRO officials also responded positively to furnish the details of those who overstay and provide guidance in the deportation process. (Maxim News)
