Hyderabad: If you have important banking work scheduled this month, it is advisable to check the August 2026 bank holiday calendar before visiting your branch. According to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 14 days across various states during August due to weekends and regional and religious festivals.
While some holidays apply nationwide, several closures are state specific. Customers are advised to verify local holiday schedules before planning a visit to their bank.
Banks to remain closed on these dates
According to the RBI holiday calendar, banks will remain closed on August 2, 4, 8, 9, 13, 15, 16, 19, 22, 23, 25, 26, 28 and 30. Apart from national holidays and weekends, several states will observe additional holidays for local festivals and special occasions.
For Hyderabad, banks will remain closed on:
- August 8 – Second Saturday
- August 9 – Sunday
- August 15 – Independence Day
- August 16 – Sunday
- August 22 – Fourth Saturday
- August 23 – Sunday
- August 28 – State-specific holiday
- August 30 – Sunday
Weekend holidays in August
There will be seven weekend holidays during the month:
- Sundays: August 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30
- Second Saturday: August 8
- Fourth Saturday: August 22
Online banking services to remain available
Despite branch closures, net banking, mobile banking, UPI and ATM services will continue to operate normally throughout the holidays. Customers are encouraged to use digital banking channels for routine transactions and plan branch visits in advance to avoid inconvenience.
It is also worth noting that stock markets (NSE and BSE) will not have any weekday trading holidays in August 2026, as Independence Day falls on a weekend.
