BRS protest at Hyderabad | Hyderabad, Mar 16 (Maxim News): BRS MLAs and MLCs led by party working president KT Rama Rao staged a protest at Hyderabad Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial in Gun Park on Monday ahead of the budget session, demanding allocation of funds and statutory backing for the Congress government’s Six Guarantees.
They vowed to raise issues plaguing the State, including delayed Rythu Bandhu assistance to farmers and rising corruption.
BRS legislators gathered at the Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial, paid tributes to Telangana martyrs and later held a demonstration with placards and slogans accusing the State government of failing to implement its election promises.
They raised slogans like “Provide statutory backing to the Six Guarantees”, “We want Rythu Bandhu, not Rahul Bandhu”, and “Backstabbing for farmers, but Rs 1,000 crore for Rahul Gandhi”. Placards also questioned delays in pensions, Rythu Bharosa, Mahalakshmi scheme benefits and other welfare promises.
Addressing the media, Rama Rao said the Congress had promised to implement the Six Guarantees within 100 days and to give them legal backing in the first Cabinet meeting, but more than two years had passed without action.
He recalled that the assurance for statutory backing was mentioned in the Governor’s address in the first year of the government, but the promise remained unfulfilled even after successive sessions of the Legislature.

The former Minister said payments under the Rythu Bandhu scheme were delayed, social security pensions were not enhanced as promised, and several welfare schemes announced for women, farmers, students, SCs, STs and unemployed youth, were not delivered.
The BRS would raise these issues during the budget session and demand clarity on allocations, alleging financial mismanagement by the government, he said, adding that the party would question the government on pending fee reimbursement dues, delays in job notifications, non-implementation of welfare schemes and the lack of funds for weaker sections as well.
“The Congress government is borrowing loans left, right and centre, but failed to implement any promises. Where are the funds going? KCR left behind a progressive State, but the Congress paralysed it within no time. The Congress is indulging in economic terrorism. The Congress turned Telangana into an ATM for the Congress high command, but is not willing to serve the needs of the poor and the needy of the State,” he lashed out. (Maxim News)
