Case Booked Against A Newspaper Editor For False News On CM KCR

Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police have booked a case against the editor of a Telugu vernacular daily on charges of publishing false information about the health status of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and spreading rumors.

The case was booked following a complaint made by one Mohd Illyas, a resident of Rahmathnagar in Jubilee Hills police station area.

In his complaint, Illyas said the newspaper had published a fake news report on the health status of the Chief Minister resulting in rumour and gossip in the State. He demanded action against the publication and the editor.

Based on the complaint, the Jubilee Hills police registered a case against Venkateshwar Rao who is the editor of the vernacular daily, under Section 505 (whoever makes, publishes or circulates any rumour or report) of IPC and Disaster Management Act. On Monday morning he was summoned to the police station for questioning.
