Hyderabad: Chandigarh cricketer Nandini Sharma has been selected in the Indian women’s cricket squad for the 2026 Asian Games, scheduled to be held in Aichi and Nagoya, Japan, in September.
India will enter the tournament as the defending champions after winning the women’s cricket gold medal at the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Nandini Sharma Earns Asian Games Call Up
Nandini secured her place in the national squad following consistent performances in domestic cricket and India A assignments. Earlier this year, she represented India A in the ACC Rising Star Women’s Asia Cup, gaining valuable international experience.
She has represented both Punjab and the Union Territory Cricket Association (UTCA) in BCCI tournaments at the Under 19, Under 23 and Senior levels. Her domestic career includes strong performances in the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal Tournament, Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy and Senior Women’s One Day Challenger Trophy.
Nandini has also been part of the Delhi Capitals Women’s team in the Women’s Premier League. Her performances in the WPL helped her gain experience alongside top international players and earned her a place in India’s ongoing Women’s T20 World Cup squad for the England tour.
UTCA President Saraansh Tandon congratulated Nandini on her achievement and described her selection as a proud moment for Chandigarh cricket.
He said Nandini earned the opportunity through dedication, discipline and consistent performances. He expressed confidence that she would make a valuable contribution to the Indian team and inspire young cricketers from the region.
