Delhi/Hyderabad, Aug 3 (Maxim News): It is known that Jantar Mantar in Delhi is being used as a venue for protests, sit-ins and agitations. However, there are views that the dharna venue should be shifted to another place. In this context, a PIL was filed in the Supreme Court today. The Supreme Court has approved the consideration of the PIL. The Supreme Court has directed Solicitor General Tushar Mohta to discuss with the Center on the petition filed that Jantar Mantar is not a suitable venue for protests. The petition was filed by Satish Chand Kaushik. The PIL states that there is no provision of sewage, food, or other facilities at the Jantar Mantar location.
The PIL also expressed its intention to set up a platform to hold dharnas in another place in the national capital and allocate a place for it. The PIL said that the locals are facing difficulties due to the agitations taking place at Jantar Mantar. It said that essential services are also being disrupted. A bench comprising Chief Justice Surya Kant, Justice Joymalya Bagchi and V Mohan issued notices to the Center on the PIL. The Chief Justice said that the issues raised in the PIL are important.
He said that even the supply of medical necessities at Jantar Mantar is becoming difficult. Locals are facing problems due to political rallies. The petitioner in the PIL requested that the incident of July 20th should not happen again. (Maxim News)
