Check Problems Likely To Cause By Rains: CS

Hyderabad, Oct.11 (Maxim News): Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar today instructed district administration to gear up to check the problems likely to cause by heavy rains in the state.

He asked the collectors,  SPs,  CPs and others to act swiftly to prevent any eventuality followed by heavy rains.

The chief secretary has said that as per directions from Chief Minister,  K Chandrasekhar Rao the district collectors have to remain extra alert for a few more days on rains.  The Chief Minister called and spoke about the warning regarding rains and wanted entire district administration on high alert he said in a release.

The meteorological Department has issued a warning that there might be heavy to very heavy rainfall over isolated parts of the state, especially the erstwhile districts of Adilabad, Karimnagar,  Nizamabad, Warangal and Khammam. Massive flooding and waterlogging are likely to occur in low lying areas he said

Falling of trees and electric poles can happen leading to disruption of normal activities,  the chief secretary pointed our.  Reservoirs, tanks and streams may overflow causing inundation of low-lying areas and cause low bridges and causeways to overflow, posing threat to traffic and people.

The Collectors and SPs are asked to put the entire district administration on alert and strictly  follow the flood protocol  communicated earlier. Special attention needs to be paid to low level bridges and causeways and all traffic and pedestrian movement has to be strictly prohibited and ensure no loss of lives.

The Chief Secretary has sought regular reports on rains and  untoward incidents.  (Maxim News)
