CM Orders Probe Into Lagacharla Farmers Being Taken To Hospital In Handcuffs

Hyderabad, Dec 12 (Maxim News): Faced with fierce criticism from all quarters over a farmer from Lagacharla being taken to a hospital in handcuffs for treatment. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident and directed officials to submit a report.

Heerya Naik, a tribal farmer who was jailed in Sangareddy for opposing part with his land for establishing a pharma village at Lagacharla, had complained of chest pain, reportedly caused by a heart stroke, and was taken to the government hospital in Sangareddy. However, with officials taking him cuffed to a chain held by a constable in a police jeep, and videos of the same going viral on social media platforms, people from different sections, raised strong objections. 

The Chief Minister sought information from officials about Naik’s health and expressed displeasure over the actions of the officials.  “What was the need for taking the farmer with handcuffs to hospital?” Revanth Reddy asked and ordered an inquiry into the incident.  He also stressed that such incidents would not be tolerated anymore.  (Maxim News)
