Congress Leaders Demands Govt To Initiate Talks With RTC Workers

Hyderabad, Nov.16 (Maxim News): Congress Senior Leader Konda Vishweshwar Reddy and former minister Gaddam Prasad Kumar on Saturday alleged that the attitude of the state government towards RTC workers was horrible. They also said that the acts being made by the state government to take away the fundamental rights of the striking workers were also a cause of concern. Citing that the employees had dropped one of their 26 demands made to the state government, They said that all the remaining 25 demands were just and meant to exercise the constitutional rights given to the people of the country by its constitution.

The two leaders asked the State government if it was wrong to demand no night duties for the women employees of the corporation and sanction of maternity leave for the pregnant woman employees. They also asked if it was wrong to demand the payment of arrears owed by GHMC to the corporation besides asking if it was wrong for the demand of the workers to regularise the services of contract employees who have been working for the last 15 years in the corporation . The two leaders have made it clear that the demand made by the corporation employees were not politically motivated but motivated by their need to live a dignified life.

They demanded the state government to give up its adamant and reluctant attitude and hold discussions with the employees of the corporation and find a solution to the ongoing strike while noting that the apex court of the state had also termed the stand of the state government that the employees should withdraw the strike on their own as undemocratic.
