Congress Urges EC To Take Up Voter List Purification

Hyderabad, Sept.22 (Maxim News): Congress election committee has demanded that the Election Commission of India furnish details of the applications it was receiving everyday on daily basis, including the details of removed and included votes.

Speaking to the media here on Saturday, the Congress Election Committee chairman Marri Shashidhar Reddy asked the Election Commission to provide the details of the votes removed in between 2015 and 2018. He said they got information that there were 500 votes in a single house. “Is it possible? What Election Commission was doing?”, he asked.

Alleging that there were 31 lakh duplicate voters, Marri said the total enrolment of votes in Andhra and Telangana were 18 lakh. Some voters, who enrolled their names in Hyderabad also enrolled their names in Andhra Pradesh State after the division of the State, he said and pointed out that the EC was stating they don’t want their vote in Hyderabad. But as per EC argument, the voters’ number has to increase in Andhra Pradesh State but it has not happened, he said. The Telangana State also stood at No 1 place in reduction of 30 lakh votes within one year, he said and demanded that the EC take up voter list purification as part of election process. (Maxim News)
