Hyderabad, July 28 (Maxim New): A major cyber crime awareness programme was conducted at Subhamkari Function Hall in Chaderghat to educate citizens about the growing threat of online fraud and the precautions needed to stay safe in the digital world.
The programme was organised as per the directions of senior police officers and was led by ACP Malakpet Division L. Raja Venkat Reddy, along with Chaderghat Inspector K.B. Murari, Sub Inspectors, and police personnel.
During the awareness session, police officers highlighted the sharp rise in cyber crimes and explained various online frauds, including digital arrest scams, investment and trading frauds, fake loan app scams, OTP and phishing frauds, QR code scams, fake customer care calls, and social media account hacking.
The officers shared practical tips to help citizens protect their personal information, bank accounts, and online transactions from cyber criminals. Participants were advised never to share OTPs, passwords, PINs, or banking credentials with anyone under any circumstances.
Police also cautioned the public against clicking suspicious links, scanning unknown QR codes, or responding to calls from unverified individuals claiming to represent banks, government agencies, or customer care services.
The public was informed that victims of cyber fraud should immediately report incidents by calling the National Cyber Crime Helpline 1930 or by filing a complaint through the official Cyber Crime Reporting Portal to improve the chances of preventing financial loss.
The programme concluded with an interactive question and answer session, where police officers addressed queries from participants and stressed that awareness, caution, and timely reporting remain the strongest safeguards against cyber crime. (Maxim News)
