Cyber Crime Increased, 273 Drug Cases Registered In 2022

Hyderabad, Dec 21 (Maxim News): The Hyderabad Police Commissioner, CV Anand said that the cases of Cyber Crime have increased in the year 2022 to 2249 as of 2066 in the year 2021. He said out of 100 cases filed, 25 to 30 cases related to Cybercrime in the city. Out of these 226 cases have been solved, he said 92 cases of hacking have been registered and 8 cases have been solved.

Keeping in view that people are being suffered heavily due to this cybercrime, the separate Cyber Unit has been set up in all the police stations with trained manpower and appealed to the people not to click the unknown link as this will help the culprits to know all your details and photographs.

With regard to controlling the drug menace, he said 273 drug cases have been registered this year and 1082 accused have been arrested. he said that 13 of them are foreigners. As part of Operation Smile, 910 people were rescued last year and 791 people were rescued in 2022, out of which 74 are girls and 717 are boys. the police have been successful in bursting drug rackets with several arrests of foreign nationals. including 4 kingpins in Goa. He said that Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing has been formed to deal with narcotic drugs, and Anti-drug Committees in Colleges have been formed.

The overall crime rate in Hyderabad city remained almost the same with a total of 22,060 cases this year as against 21,998 cases in the previous year. the murders came down to 63 in 2022 from 89 as reported last year, kidnappings came down from 225 to 220, crimes against women from 2652 to 2524, and POCSO cases from 399 to 350.

The Hyderabad Commissioner of Police said that the police have ensured the crime is under control and several steps initiated by all wings to keep peace prevail in the city. The police ensured the peaceful conduct of all important events including festivals, meetings, and political events.

386 cases related to ATM/debit cards and credit cards have been registered out of which 35 cases have been solved. Of the 97 cases reported as part of online fraud, 7 cases have been resolved. He said that 68 cases have been registered in connection with online communal posts and 4 cases have been solved, 41 cases of Nigerian frauds have been registered and 6 cases have been solved. He said that out of 11 matrimony cases, 5 cases have been solved. this year, the task force wing registered 1703 cases and arrested 3187 people.

He said that SHE teams received 2766 complaints in 2021 and 2292 in 2022, out of them, FIRs were filed on 137 cases, and 427 cases were registered, he said 235 people who tried to commit suicide in Hussain Sagar were saved by Tank Bund Lake Police.

The Commissioner said that 2524 cases of crimes against women have been registered this year, Out of these, there are 296 cases of rape, 126 cases of kidnapping, and 1418 cases of harassment of women. He said that 91 new people have been issued a rowdy sheet this year. In property theft cases, Rs. 25 crore property was stolen, 62 percent was recovered, while 949 cases have been registered under financial crimes. It is said that criminals have looted more than Rs. 15 hundred crores of money.

He clarified that 21 people were sentenced to life imprisonment in various cases, and 63 murder cases have been registered this year. He said that there has been a huge increase in cheating cases, So far 4297 cases have been registered he said that 456 gaming cases have been registered and a 70 percent conviction rate has been recorded. It was clarified that 113 atrocity cases have been filed. this year, more than 24 new people have registered under the PD act. he said that dial 100 received 2.33 lakh calls. (Maxim News)
