Don’t Believe False Propaganda Being Spread Against Us: Konda Surekha

Warangal/Hyderabad: Former minister and Congress MLA Konda Surekha on Sunday urged her supporters and party cadre not to believe what she described as false propaganda being spread against her and her family.

Addressing a meeting of fans and activists in Warangal along with her husband Konda Murali, Surekha said reports being broadcast on television about her political future were imaginary and false. She also made it clear that she had no plans to join another political party.

Surekha said she was born into the Congress and would continue with the party. She added that she was not upset over being removed from the Telangana Cabinet but was disappointed that she was dismissed without being given a reason.

Konda Surekha Says She Will Continue With Congress

Surekha said she would return to active public life and remain among the people. Recalling her political journey from an MPP to minister, she said positions were temporary and only a form of decoration.

She said she would abide by the decisions of the Congress high command and expressed confidence that she would contest again from the Warangal East Assembly constituency and win. She also said she expected to become a minister again.

Surekha claimed that she had recently received phone calls from the Congress high command and said there were indications that her husband, Konda Murali, could be given a party position.

Recalling her association with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, she said she was among the first leaders to participate in his padayatra. She also maintained that she had not indulged in corruption while handling the three departments assigned to her as a minister.

Surekha further expressed confidence that the Congress would win 25 divisions in the next Warangal municipal elections.

She also hit out at MLC Basavaraju Saraiah, alleging that some leaders were engaging in politics without values. Responding to calls for her resignation, she questioned Saraiah’s political standing and warned him against making such statements.

Surekha recalled her decision to resign from the ministerial post during the tenure of former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy, saying she had taken the step because of her trust in him.

She also alleged that the Saraiah family was involved in land grabbing and extortion, and levelled allegations against BRS leader Dharma Reddy over political and financial activities. These allegations were made during the meeting and were not independently established.

Surekha thanked her supporters and activists for respecting her appeal for restraint following her removal from the Cabinet. She said political positions come and go, but she remained indebted to those who had stood by her.  (Maxim News)
