Hyderabad, August 8: Sanathnagar police arrested a 45 year old man for allegedly sexually assaulting his minor daughter over several months.
Police registered a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act after the girl approached them. The accused works as a housekeeper and lives with his wife and three daughters.
According to police, the family lives within the Sanathnagar police station limits. The accused allegedly struggled with alcohol addiction and frequently quarrelled with his wife and children.
Police said the accused sexually assaulted his second daughter during March, April and May. The family initially kept the alleged abuse private due to concerns about social stigma.
The alleged abuse continued despite the family’s efforts to prevent further incidents. As a result, the girl eventually approached Sanathnagar police and reported the alleged sexual assault.
Police registered a POCSO case based on her complaint. Officers subsequently arrested the accused and began an investigation into the allegations.
The case highlights the need for children to report abuse and seek immediate help from trusted adults or authorities. Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged offences.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the survivor, in accordance with legal protections for children involved in sexual offence cases.
