Give More Funds To Kerala: CPI

Hyderabad, Aug.31 (Maxim News): CPI national general secretary Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy urged the Centre to allot more assistance apart from taking a favourable stand towards the state’s plan to avail of international aid for rebuilding the state. In a press note here he congratulated the members of the state assembly, belonging to both ruling and opposition, for upholding Kerala’s uniqueness of unity in action at times of distress and calamity. He said that they extend full solidarity and support to the resolution passed unanimously in the special session of the assembly. The resolution underlined that ‘the state was moving towards the aim of rebuilding better, instead of just overcoming from the impact of the flood. Mobilisation of financial resources has become a major challenge.

The CPI also demands that special financial package to rebuilt infrastructure be given to Kerala from Centre, as the losses of the unprecedented rains and flood damages may go up to forty to fifty thousand crores of rupees. The CPI urges the Centre to take into confidence the state’s lawmakers and adopt a favourable stand to enable the state ‘to make use of the financial and technical support offered by the foreign countries, international agencies like United Nations and financial agencies, including World Bank, in the rebuilding initiatives by protecting the interest of the state.’ (Maxim News)
