Hyderabad, Dec.30 (Maxim News): Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy today said that Telangana government will encourage oil palm production in the state during 2020. He said that Telangana is on top in Agriculture sector in the country.
At a review meeting with officials at HACA Bhavan here, he stated that a target is on to cultivate oil palm crops in about 7 lakh acres. The centre has identified that 240 mandals in Telangana are favourable for oil palm cultivation, he said.
‘We plan to set up 40 processing units in the state’ he said and appealed to people to sow vegetables in flower pots in the houses. Related technology was developed at Jeedimetla and Mulugu and is useful, he said.
Attached to agriculture University, two excellence centers are on, the minister said. He instructed the agriculture department officials to educate farmers on fertilizers use and change of crops. (Maxim News)
